Shopping for Easter attire, I explained to my 15-year-old daughter, "You don't need shoes, Margaret. No matter what dress you choose, I'm sure one of your gazillion pairs of shoes will match it."

"But Mommy!" Margaret said, convicted, "You just don't realize how many pairs of shoes I don't have!"
